An acclaimed British folk singer who lent his vocals to one of Pink Floyd's classic songs is facing child-sex-abuse charges for acts he allegedly committed during the 1970s. 

The BBC reports that Roy Harper, who was featured on the 1975 Pink Floyd tune "Have a Cigar," from the album Wish You Were Here, has been charged with nine counts of inappropriate sexual behavior with an underage girl in Herefordshire, England.  The incidents are said to have begun when the girl was 12 years old and took place between 1975 and 1977.

Harper, who lives in Ireland, was issued a summons last month ordering him to appear in a Herefordshire court this Monday.  This follows a voluntary interview that U.K. authorities conducted with the 72-year-old singer at London's Heathrow Airport in February.

In addition to his noted Pink Floyd cameo, Harper was the subject of the 1970 Led Zeppelin song "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper."  During his long career, he has released more than 20 studio albums, with such famous musicians as Pink Floyd's David Gilmour and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and John Paul Jonescontributing to various records over the years.
