When it came time to cut a classic Christmas duet for her new CD Wrapped in Red, Kelly Clarkson says she knew exactly who she should sing “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” with: Ronnie Dunn.
“I was like, ‘Ronnie, you have to do this song,’” she said, laughing. “'Cause he's so that just really funny guy that would say that to you, by the way. So, it's perfect, and he agreed to do it and we had a fun time.”
Kelly was a little more starstruck when she went in the studio with musical heroes Reba and Trisha Yearwood, admitting she “totally cried the day (they) were in the studio, and was just freaking out.”
Now that their trio version of “Silent Night” is finished, Kelly says she can’t stop listening to it.
“It ends a capella, and it's so ridiculous. I have never been so vain in my whole life, but I've listened to that song I don't know how many times. I listen to it like a lullaby, like, every day. I love it. It's so beautiful.”
Of course, Reba is now Kelly’s mother-in-law, after tying the knot with Reba's stepson Brandon Blackstock in October.
